At the ripe old age of 13 months, it’s time for Kai’s first adventure to Disneyland! He wasn’t able to do much, but still thoroughly enjoyed his day (I think, but I’m no fortune teller).
After getting off the tram, Kai had his first quick nap at the picnic area right outside the entrance. Though short-lived this proved to be sufficient enough to sustain him (for a few hours at least). We fed him at Jolly Holiday and then embarked on various adventures. It was quite a hot day, and I’m sure he melted a lot in the process, but he enjoyed cruising in his new Lilo&Stitch stroller a majority of the day. We went on “It’s a Small World”, and I’m sure he was mesmerized by the outdated animatronics. I’m sure it reminded him of his television.
On our way to Toontown to let him crawl around a little, he fell asleep in the stroller, proving himself quite tired from the whole experience (and perhaps even over-stimulated???). We ate at Cafe Daisy while he napped. Upon waking up, we enjoyed Micky and Minnie’s Railway adventure, even though he almost spun out of my arms. Is it really that baby friendly? Technically there is no height requirement.
Afterwards, we went to watch the Bluey Show while feeding him again. Let’s just say it was pretty underwhelming. The show was just a bunch of musical performances, without any plot. An episode of the show would be much better – although Kai is still a bit too young to understand anything going on in that show. Tragic.
We attempted to feed him at the Child Care center (failed). We got ourselves Starbucks before allowing him to crawl in the best place in Disneyland for crawling and walking: outside of the auditorium of the Great Moments theater with Abraham Lincoln. There, he was all smiles and probably had the best time of his life after being trapped in for too long. After attemping to have him nap for a third time (and him talking so much during the Abraham Lincoln movie (rude!!!) and going back to the child care center, we opted to exit for Disney California adventure.
At Disney California adventure we proceeded to take a few more photos before feeding him again at the Baby Care Center. The one there was superior to the one in Disneyland – which was obviously way superior than the dirty bathrooms at Sea World. I guess they treat their animals the same way they treat their bathrooms. We had dinner at Lucky Fortune before getting a gift for Katherine, and leaving due to fatigue. I had the stamina to keep going though, but I knew the two K’s in the story were beyond wiped out.
Upon writing this blog it probably sounds like this Disneyland trip was rather boring – but it was actually pretty exciting. Even though we only got to witness 2 rides and 1 show, and having to pencil feeding and napping sessions in between, seeing Kai’s eyes light up was quite magical. I imagine that’s most of parenthood, re-experiencing life through someone else’s eyes. Can’t wait till he can watch 24 or Glee with me in the future. Of course we’ll have to go again in a year and half right before Kai turns 3 so that he can hopefully remember a little more of it in the future. But I doubt it.
In the end, it was a great experience, and Kai was only fussy for a small chunk of the day. But in the end, he was a trooper and survived his first trip to Disneyland! When he is of older age, we’ll make sure to make it all the way to World of Color and Fireworks to make it even crazier.
