Day 42: Triumphs and Catastrophes

February 11th, 2011

Today was epic, full of triumphs and catastrophes all wrapped up in a tiny little package. I woke up, did P90X, and then headed straight to class. I believe I triumphed over my Ancient Greek History Vocabulary Test, because it seemed relatively easy enough. I at least got a 94, I believe. I then proceeded to my ICRA Office Hours where the computer guy yet again stood me up…… After that catastrophe of a meeting, I went to Bear Garden with Geetha where I crashed into a guy and made him spill his beer. FAIL. He fortunately did not fistpump me right away, as I figure a normal drunk would have done. Whatever. If anything, I did the world a favor by producing one less drunk in the world. Go America ! <24.

Then, me & Geetha were bored so we went to the cliffs where I took this gorgeous picture. YEAH! We saw the solar cycles shift at the Cliffs, because ultimately heading back and eating food at Pines, which wasn’t very good unfortunately. Catastrophe. We then watched The O.C. together, but I ultimately crashed and fell asleep, bringing to an end the day and night’s events.

In a change from his previous appearances at CPAC Ron Paul addressed a noticeably divided crowd of enthusiastic supporters and mum detractors. His speech was filled with the usual attacks on the Federal Reserve, critiques of American foreign policy, defense of civil liberties and talk about how he’s been a defender of liberty since dinosaurs walked the earth. To be blunt it’s the speech Paul always gives without a teleprompter. Comments celebrating the recent defeat of the Patriot Act extension received loud cheers and a smattering of boos from the crowd, as did his criticism of the “American empire.” Unlike most speeches today Paul did address the biggest news of the day in the fall Hosni Mubarak. “A lot of people now say what should our position be about finding the next dictator of Egypt? And I would say ‘We need to do a lot less, a lot sooner, not only in Egypt, but around the world,” he said when talking about Egypt. Paul then criticized what he sees as so-called “moral responsibility to spread our goodness around the world.” Paul noted the money paid to Egypt during Mubarak’s reign went straight to Mubarak’s pocket. “It used to be that conservatives were against foreign aid, I am still against foreign aid for everybody,” he said. Thank you Ron Paul. America needs you now more than ever.
On February 11th, 2010, The U.S. Missile Defense Agency has said that an American high-powered airborne laser weapon has shot down a ballistic missile in the first successful test of a futuristic directed energy weapon. The agency went on to say that the test took place at 8:44 p.m. PST at Point Mugu’s Naval Air Warfare Center in central California. ‘The Missile Defense Agency demonstrated the potential use of directed energy to defend against ballistic missiles when the Airborne Laser Testbed (A.L.T.B.) successfully destroyed a boosting ballistic missile.’ The high-powered Airborne Laser system has been developed by Boeing Co., (BA.N) the prime contractor, and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency. At least this means Ronald Regan’s Stategic Defense Initiative (nicknamed Star Wars), wasn’t a total bust.

P.S.: ” You probably don’t think I could force this towel down your throat, but trust me I can. All the way. Except that I’d hold onto this little bit at the end. When your stomach starts to digest the towel, I pull it out. Taking your stomach lining with it. Most people probably take about a week to die. It’s very painful.” – Jack Bauer!
