I woke up today to an empty apartment. Apparently Kunal, Amul, and Steven all went home, and I was clearly oblivious (since I got back pretty late). Anyway, it would have been rather lonely the entire day without them, but I managed to fill up my day up very tightly.
I first did some homework in the morning, immediately following it with a visit to my neighbors Amy and Germaine. They entertained me for a bit as I spammed them some “Just Go with it” posters as part of my marketing campaign. After, I came back to hang out with Geetha & Rashika at the Warren Student Activity Center, playing yet another ridiculous game of Scrabble. Because Rashika was cheating, me and Geetha ultimately forfeited to let her have her day in the sun; we went to Earl’s to get some snacks, and then we watched an episode of 24. Sadly, I had to leave for dinner, where I was reunited with Conference Services Freshman Year people – Robert picked me up, and me, him, Dana, & Ruby ate at Island’s yet again! It was rather awkward cause I made an awkward conversation with the waitress as Ruby was struggling to pick something to order. FAIL. It was nice catching up with them cause I haven’t seen them at all since summer, and hopefully if plans follow through as planned I’ll see them on Week 9 for Phil’s. Afterwards I walked over to Golden Spoon to get some frozen yogurt where I got a surprise, yet pleasant encounter with Lauren Swan.
I headed over to the Shops/Restaurant/Theatre section of the Ralph’s parking lot as I awaited Lauren and Alex’s arrival – we were going to watch a movie in the movie theater. Unfortunately, they arrived half an hour late so I was lonely for a bit. I ultimately took pictures during their absence inevitably finding the picture of today. When they finally arrived, we all realized there were no good movies playing so we ultimately decided to go to Alex’s apartment to watch movies. We watched “Jerry Macquire” on Alex’s Netflix which was the slowest, most boring movie I have yet to see. Perhaps they had lower standards in the 90’s or perhaps in the fast paced world of the 00’s we have all developed A.D.D, but that movie was not as good as the critics made it out to be, and awfully slow. Alex & Lauren agreed, as we chatted the rest of the night till midnight. After driving us back, me & Lauren went to Earl’s and we ultimately called it a night. I finished out the night blogging and catching up with Degrassi!
| The results of the Washington Times CPAC straw poll of presidential candidates are in, and the winner is Texas Rep. Ron Paul, with 30 percent of the vote. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was the runner-up with 23 percent. There were 3,742 ballots cast in the annual survey, which is a chance for devotees to name their pick for president in 2012. Fifty-six percent of those surveyed said they were generally satisfied with the field of potential candidates and 43 percent said they wished the GOP had a better field of potential candidates. For those surveyed, the size of the federal government was the most important issue to them. CPAC is an annual gathering of conservatives, which this year served as the first cattle-call of potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates. HELL YES. Let the media downplay his win in the next few days. |

On February 12th, 1924, Calvin Coolidge became the first U.S. president to deliver an address by radio. This was the first day that radio programming had included commercials. The National Carbon Company had aired an advertisement during the broadcast of The Everyday Hour. This first sponsored program was heard in New York, Washington, Province, and surrounding areas. This show featured celebrity appearances, music, and stories. COOL. This was an important precedent that ultimately transitioned into the world of 24/7 Cable News Channel that is so pervasive today.

P.S.: “The Sunday before you killed my wife, Teri and I went to the boardwalk in Venice just watching all the rollerbladers and musicians, laughing at the crazy people, spending time together. And Teri sees this snow-cone stand. She giggles like a kid. She takes off running, she wants to get in line, she wants one. I remember I was watching her, I was just… I couldn’t help myself. When I look up at her she’s talking to this old lady in line behind her and the two of them are laughing, and I’m thinking to myself, How the hell does she do that? How does she strike up a conversation with an absolute stranger? And they just start laughing. Like they’d been friends forever. That’s a gift. I remember thinking, God, I wish I could do that. But I can’t. That was Teri. My wife. That’s what you took from this world, Nina. That’s what you took from me, and my daughter. I just wanted you to know that.” – Jack Bauer.
