Day 248: Adventures in the Cove

September 5th, 2011
After finalizing “Crash”, a great movie, (started last night) and eating the final remnants of leftover pasta from Buca de Beppo with Geetha in the morning, I assisted her in the process of doing laundry before I headed straight for home. When I got back I immediately saw Alex waiting outside in the driveway for Lauren. I went indoors and told Lauren to come outside (she didn’t even know Alex was there). We proceeed to Kaiser Permanente for a bit, before eating at Fashion Valley. I wasn’t hungry so the two girls decided to eat pasta at CPK, while I sat there and consumed bread. Sad Times. We got back to La Regencia and hung out in Lauren’s room for a bit eating licorice, chilling with the arrival of Tyler and Rosario, and figuring out plans for the rest of the day. We decided because the weather was extremely rainy it would be a good idea to get some Coldstone’s (sarcasm). We got some delicious ice cream while sitting outside talking about various topics, including the inappropriate topic of when is the best time for one’s water to break. We proceeded afterwards to La Jolla Cove to look for animals to view, where I snapped my picture of the day. There, me and Tyler played the couples game, but ultimately failed before we headed back to watch various episodes of How I Met Your Mother. We ordered some Papa John’s for our stomach to consume while simultaneously eye-candying the show, till Alex and Rosario left, and the night was over. I HATE ROBIN >:(

History
On this day in 1836, Sam Houston is elected as president of the Republic of Texas, which earned its independence from Mexico in a successful military rebellion. Born in Virginia in 1793, Houston moved with his family to rural Tennessee after his father’s death; as a teenager, he ran away and lived for several years with the Cherokee tribe. Houston served in the War of 1812 and was later appointed by the U.S. government to manage the removal of the Cherokee from Tennessee to a reservation in Arkansas Territory. He practiced law in Nashville and from 1823 to1827 served as a U.S. congressman before being elected governor of Tennessee in 1827. YEE GO TEXAS.
News
Texas congressman Ron Paul slammed Texas governor Rick Perry over the weekend, saying Mr. Perry is simply the “candidate of the week.” Speaking on ABC, the Texas congressman said Republican voters should examine Mr. Perry’s past remarks. He was the one saying, ‘Oh yeah, I’m all for secession,’ and that kind of talk,” Mr. Paul told the Associated Press, referencing Mr. Perry’s statement in 2009 that Texas could consider seceding if Washington persisted in “[thumbing] their nose at the American people.” “The only thing I would advise is looking at his record, and not just taking him at face value. Texas has had a lot of changes in these last eight years, not exactly positive either,” the Texas congressman added. The comment is Mr. Paul’s latest dig at Mr. Perry. Speaking earlier this year, Mr. Paul told CNN that he has never met Mr. Perry. “It may surprise you: I don’t know the governor. I don’t recall ever having met him,” Mr. Paul said. YEAH RICK PERRY IS A FAIL.

P.S.: Lightning
