May 2nd, 2011
May continues with UCSD Cares Week, which started today officially! I snapped a picture subsequently of a page showing how much I care, as well as a button. After waking up today and putting up posters for ICRA’s “The Price is Right” event, I went to EH&S to turn in my timesheet and print a few things out. Aftewards, I proceeded to the SRC to continue my internship. I had a weekly meeting with Mandy, Sylvia, and Yu-Ting before ultimately tabling in the blistering heat with Sarah for a bit. She left me all alone, as I attempted to bribe people to my table with all natural, all organic soap. In the process, I would make friendly conversation with the Teach for America table next to me, as well as the Alumni Association. I talked to Pam for a bit, and she convinced me to become a member of the Alumni Association in return for a 25 dollar coupon as well as a free Sprinkles cupcakes. Delicious! Worth it? Probably. Alexis visited for a bit, and gave me some free ice cream. Unfortunately, I was super thirsty because of the heat that started today, and will continue tomorrow. In the process, Tyler came by to drop me off some housing paperwork, as well as Alex who filled out an own your impact pledge. You can also do so at ownyourimpact.ucsd.edu . Fun Fun Fun Fun.
Alexis left, and Pam and I talked about a wide range of topics from Glee to A.S. elections. I left with Yu-Ting to clean up, as well as visited Tiffany for a bit in the process. When I got back to the SRC, I inputed some more own your impact pledges to the database, before meeting up with Geetha to go to Goodies. On the way, we bumped into Cindy who was stressed out over blood bash because of Bee-John. We shrugged. We walked. We ate. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t that great. Looks like I’m getting more and more tired of dining hall food each and every day… So it’s good that I’m going off campus? The two of us departed ways as I dropped my Kit Kat several times on the floor. When I got back, I studied for a bit, went to a short-lived PAW meeting, and then went to Earl’s to grab a light dinner. In the process of studying for the night, Lauren came over, picked up an ICRA key to rent, and we discussed housing in the process. We decided it would be best to look for alternative options, but if we couldn’t find any, we’d end up living in La Regencia. Sigh, good times. Studying led to helping Amul and his friend set up for ICRA’s blood bash tomorrow through the process of hauling tables and chairs in position in the Student Activity Center. I rounded out the night finalizing my studies in preparation for my 2 midterms tomorrow as well as investigating internships for the summer.

| On May 2nd, 1930, President Hoover in a speech said that the stock market crash of last year was just a temporary setback and would soon pass and that the economy would soon bounce back ( this was 6 months after the stock market crash and the great depression of the 1930’s would continue and worsen over the next 5 years ) FAIL. |

| It’s not bloodlust — it’s justice. Ten years ago at this time, Osama bin Laden was in Afghanistan planning the terrorist attacks that killed more than 3,000 of our fellow Americans in cold blood. Now he is dead and the families of his victims can have a measure of comfort. The healing can deepen. And if there’s a celebration in the streets outside the White House and ground zero — just as there was celebration after the death of Adolf Hitler was announced on May 1, 1945 — it is deserved. It is 10 years overdue. I agree with CNN for once. |
