February, it’s been nice knowing you! As the shortest month of the year brings itself to a close, so does the longest PAW meeting of the year. I woke up today, did P90x, went to work, talked with Alexis at bit at Cafe Roma, went to class, went back to work and made a gazillion copies, and then went to my other class (where I took an extended nap). By dinnertime I went to the ICRA office to meet up with BeeJohn and Amul to choose decorations for the Res-Council Dinner. We settled on a couple things, which included lots and lots of bubbles. We then proceeded to eat dinner at Pines, where BeeJohn devoured 3 plates of food. He sadly still has more mealpoints than me though.
The extended PAW meeting occured in the Warren Conference room, where I immediately snapped a picture. In attendance with Lauren, Matt, Julia, Shirley, Kaslow, Kunal, Rosario, Amy, Tyler, Amul, Alex, Jake, and Jennifer Klage. I also got my reimbursement check, which equates to more money for Phil’s! Now, where’s that ICRA stipend I’ve been looking forward to? 🙁
Next quarter we’re doing some carnival event, some Pre-SunGod casino night, and a few study breaks as well as tabling for Admit Day. FUN! In between I went to Earl’s for a quick snack – which turned out to be Naked Juice (MANGO flavor). The “Normal meeting” lasted till 10:30 as we discussed details of TEA TIME, which will be happening at the exact same time as ICRA’s Toy Story event. Programming fail? Shrug. Julia tossed me a Captain America random action figure during the meeting but I failed to arrange it. She had to ultimately fix it for me. By the end of the night, me and Tyler were still stuck without a proxy, so we asked Matt Diamond and he kindly accepted. Flush the John has been resurrected! I need to turn in a few forms, so more errands need to be done tomorrow. February was a good month, let’s hope March is grateful (i.e. full of greatness). :]
| President Barack Obama tried to seize the political middle in the continuing fight over health care reform Monday, telling a group of governors that he’s willing to give states earlier flexibility in how they implement the overhaul signed into law last year. Specifically, the president embraced a bipartisan proposal that would allow states to apply for “innovation waivers” starting in 2014, three years earlier than originally scheduled in the health care reform bill pushed through by Democrats. Under the terms of such waivers, states would be exempt from a number of requirements in the law if they come up with their own way to adequately expand coverage without increasing the deficit. For some reason, I don’t think that’s going to end up working out very well…. | ![]() |

On February 28th, 1983, The final episode of M*A*S*H, a series about the staff of an Army hospital during the Korean War entitled ( Goodbye, Farewell and Amen ) became the most-watched television episode in U.S. history, with viewer estimates at 106 million Americans. Now, I’ve only seen a few episodes of this show, but I can understand why it resonated so well with so many Americans. Vietnam war was a huge blunder in American history. :[ And MASH’s representation of the Korean War matched American’s view of war as cruel and unusual. |
