Day 56: PHILanthropy

February 25th, 2011

Contrary to what my blog title would suggest, I did NOT do community service today. I shall explain later. The day started with me waking up and simultaneously doing P90X as well as studying for my Ancient Greek History quiz. After attaining lunch at Foodworx with Geetha, I went to my class and took my quiz (which was relatively easy by the way). I immediately proceeded to my ICRA open door hours where I would be greeted with Rashika who returned me an ICRA key. Later, Geetha and Cindy came to hang out for a bit, Cindy checked out the key inevitably, and Rashika eventually came. We all talked for a while before I had to leave for my OL Interview. I then proceeded to my group interview – which had three parts. I don’t know if I talked enough, and felt only semi-confident after the interview was over. I only knew a fraction of the people there – I would say 15%. After the interview I went to Phil’s BBQ with Lauren, BeeJohn, and Matt Diamond. I took my picture of the day there, and it hence explains my title. I was giving to the world today by taking my friend BeeJohn to Phil’s for him to savor his appetite. Let’s just say – BeeJohn is a monster devouring a sandwich as well as a full rack of beef ribs. It was fun cause we got lost on the way there, and on the way back Lauren accidentally almost ran over a BSU member. Good thing she didn’t though, otherwise we’d all be accused of homicide. After I got back I went to Earl’s with Lauren, and then immediately after went back to my apartment. Apparently I got cleared for the next round of OL interviews (I got an email), which is super exciting! I’m not sure how to handle this current food coma I’m in, but we’ll see how the rest of the night goes. I saw Geetha, Charlene, and Yammi at Earl’s when I went with Amul, and ended the night watching The Social Network with Amul (he fell asleep) using a USB stick provided by L. Coleman.

The Tea Party has already stitched together a colorful history made of success and failure, anger and optimism and lots of controversy.
And as the movement marks its second anniversary, it’s worth asking: Where is it headed?
“It started spontaneously and organically as a protest/rally movement. And it fully matured, because of the timing, into a movement that involved electoral politics,” Tea Party Patriots co-founder Mark Meckler told CNN.

“And so, here we are, on our second anniversary, we’ve proven that this is a movement that’s here to stay. It’s time to get serious about — and pushing forward — a long-term policy.” YAY, GO AMERICA!

On February 25th, 1913, The Sixteenth Amendment, which paved the way for the United States adoption of income tax, was ratified. Let’s just say….. UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Ron Paul, as well as our Founding Fathers would all be rolling over in their graves. Fortunately for us, Ron Paul isn’t dead though. RON PAUL 2012!

P.S.: “Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.” – George Washington Carver.
