Day 4: The Routine Begins.

January 4th 2011

I hope this doesn’t continue, but today was the first day that felt really like a “routine”, rather than a long string of fun events. This morning I woke up and started my daily routine of P90X, work, and class.

Fortunately for me, I was able to get Lemongrass at the Farmer’s Market which operates every Tuesday here at UCSD. Basically a bunch of booths are set up and sell better food than the food sold in any of the dining hall or Price Center. Today was my first time ever eating anything! It’s a bit pricey, so I don’t think I’ll do it that often. I was I ate with Adam, Jessica, and Amul, before shortly heading to work. On the way, I bumped into Tran, who is my church buddy (she takes me every every every other Sunday, or whenever I’m free). We talked for a bit before I left shoftafter. At work, the scanner worked so I was able to accomplish some copying, splitting, and pasting while simulateneously on Facebook and Aim.

I also need to mention that I drank out of the “Untitled” Water fountain near the Farmer’s Market / Price Center. According to UCSD legend at least, it is good luck to drink from the fountain’s “smart water” before an important exam. More importantly, when you lean down to drink the water you see a flag (covered by some trees), and thus are doing your patriotic duty in bowing down to America. Subsequently, I knew I just HAD to use this as today’s picture.

Later that day me and John Torres went to Panda Express and Pines. We each ate at a different depending on our forte – on-campus or off-campus (I’ll let you figure that out)! More importantly I was able to get some delicious stir fry from Pines, which was unfortunately not cooked by the seasoned black chef that does it the best. Then we went to my only class of the day, The Information Age: Fact or Fiction…. which was extremely boring, but hopefully will pick up at some point. It also doesn’t help that the class is from 6:30 to 8:00, ideal eating/napping time.

The day ended on a long note as I talked and caught up with Rosario, Germaine, & Amy – and then played / WINNING my favorite game Loaded Questions, as well as being stuck in a game of Scrabble with Angie, Rosario, & Amy towards the end of the night. [Amy unfortunately won, probably by cheating].

Hopefully routine doesn’t plauge my Winter Quarter of the year 2011.

According to Publishers Weekly, NewSouth Books’ upcoming edition of Mark Twain’s seminal novel “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” will remove all instances of the “n” word — nigger– present in the text and replace it with slave. I consider this a horrendous form of censorship. The whole point Mark Twain was trying to make in regards to the book, to anyone who has read it, was that the persons who were trying to civilize Huckleberry Finn and Mark Twain in the book, were in and of themselves UNCIVILIZED because of their racism towards Jim, the black “nigger”. The N Word is kept in the book because it reiterates the theme of the novel – by removing it the publisher would clearly lose the merit and true work of the novel. It might as well be considered an “abridged” work in my personal opinion. This form of political correctness will destroy America by the rate it is presently going.

On January 4th, 1966, Ronald Reagan announced his candidacy for the position of Republican Governor of California. Before this epic day, he was an actor who starred in Death Valley Days. Much like the previous California governor Arnold what’s-his-name, Reagan was able to communicate his ideas well to the public. His position as California governor helped propel him in later years to the presidency (1980-1988). He got the American hostages released in Iran, reduced welfare, interest, unemployment, and inflation during his presidency, deregulated the airline industry, created 15 million new jobs during his presidency, he brought down the Soviet Union by forcing them to overspend, and restored the people’s faith in the government. (Only to be later crushed by Bush/Obama)

P.S.: I can’t say I was never wrong, but some blame rests on you. Work and play they’re never okay to mix the way we do.
