Day 115: Work & Clics

April 25th, 2011

What a relatively normal day, with nothing too deviating from the norm. I started the day working at EH&S, turned in my AIP application and ate at Burger King, continued it working at SRC (where I had a meeting with my boss’s boss about a potential job offer, as well as the Student Sustainability Collective about the website), went to ICRA’s executive board meeting where we spent a vast amount of hours debating who should receive an award (that was slightly unnecessary), and then ate at Pines with Rashika & Geetha. The stir fry wasn’t as good as it usually is, so I was disappointed. I then studied for a bit with Geetha at Clics, where I snapped a picture of the outside horizon. When that was all done, I went to the PAW meeting where elections occured. Our new cabinet for 2011-2012 is as follows:

Lauren – Chair
Julia – Vice Chair
Amy – Secretary
Sid – Treasurer

Fun Fun Fun Fun. After that was done I went to Earl’s with Amul, downloaded some SunGod music to prepare for the festival coming up in a few weeks, and went to Geetha’s place to hang out. My niece would call me at random times during the night to help her with her Ancient Chinese essay, even though that’s not even my speciality in the area of history. Geetha also cooked me some Ramen and nursed me back to health after I got sick.

History
On April 25th, 1953, Two Cambridge University scientists “James D Watson and Francis Crick” publish an article in Nature Magazine explaining the structure of DNA and that DNA is the material that makes up genes which pass hereditary characteristics in all life from one parent to another. They conclude that it consists of a double helix of two strands coiled around each other and could even be considered the “secret of life”. YAY DNA.
News
A 5-year-old boy strapped into his car seat for a late-night ride was the driver’s son – and his decoy. The New Jersey dad traveling with his kid and a bag filled with the boy’s toys was actually a heroin smuggler using the child as a diversion, police said. The bottom of the black bag was lined with 500 bags of heroin worth $10,000, leading to the Saturday night arrest of Christopher Ennis, 31, according to police. ERM….
