Day 101: Ze Intern’s First Day

April 11th, 2011

Today was my first day in my small little internship at the Sustainability Resource Center. Subsequently, I allocated time in my schedule for all things work related. I woke up in the morning feeling extremely tired, going to work at 9:30 at EH&S. When I left, I got a call from Mandy to meet her at Gilman for lunch. We went with Kristin, some of the old interns, and Yu-Ting and Sylvia to a place called Indian Tandori! The last time I had Indian food I didn’t like it very much, but this place was delicious. <24 Nan. NOM NOM NOM. NAN NAN NAN. It was sweet for Kristin to treat all of us, calling it a down-payment for the interns! When we all got back to the sustainability resource center I got started on an event invitation for earth week and brainstorming ideas for the Sustainability website and blog. I snapped a picture when I left in honor of my first day, witnessing the CRAZY SunGod Guest Ticket lines. Congratulations to Alyssa for winning A.S. President – Board the Wing sweeped the election, and Students First won nothing ;). I didn’t do too bad myself for not campaigning though. Afterwards, I went to the ICRA Executive Board meeting with Lauren, Jorge, Cindy, Windi, Rashika, Geetha, Bee-John, & Amul. After that was all done, I ate at Pines with Geetha, hung out with her in Sixth for a bit, before ultimately heading over to the PAW meeting. Afterwards, I made posters in the Warren Poster Room with T.Saw, Amul, Amy, Rosario, Wanting, & Alex. I finished the rest of the night doing laundry and carrying out various homework & work related tasks.

History
On April 11th, 1951, President Harry S Truman fired General Douglas MacArthur as commander of United Nations and US forces in the Far East after General Douglas MacArthur made public statements calling for an attack on mainland China unless Communist forces laid down their arms in Korea. The president is still hoping for a peaceful settlement. Awww Douglas MacArthur you stupid warmonger, you 😉
News
April 11, 2011 was a memorable legal day for Facebook and its co-founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. One lengthy bit of litigation is petering out, while one is just starting up. The first lawsuit — so long-term in nature (8 years) that a feature film about it has come and gone — ground to a halt when a federal court of appeals panel of three judges ruled that twin brothers Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss cannot renege on a $65 million settlement they made with Zuckerberg in 2008 and litigate for more money. In the newer case, New York software developer Paul Ceglia, who claims to have rights to 50 percent of Zuckerberg’s equity in Facebook, said April 11 he has emailed proof from Zuckerberg of his claim and will litigate in federal court. Facebook has called Ceglia “a scam artist.” BAHHAAHA, FAIL 🙂

P.S.: Bigger on the Inside
