I spent a majority of my Friday “Studying” for Finals. In what otherwise started as a normal day simply evolved into a clique study session. I woke up, went to work, went to my last Ancient Greek class of the quarter, and then went back to work to print out my notes. After doing so I had a snack at Burger King, chilled with Alexis for a bit at Price Center, before ultimately going to eat dinner at Pines with Geetha & Bee-John. YUM STIR FRY. After Geetha picked up her studying supplies from her apartment, we headed to Warren’s “Courtroom” to study, but there weren’t any adequate tables there.
Ultimately, we went to my apartment, grabbed Amul, and then met Bee-John and Rashika outside of Earl’s as we ultimately studied at JK Wood lounge. I haven’t actually hung out at that place since as far back as PAW’s Haunted House of 2009, so it’s definitely been a while. I snapped a picture of the group admist the studying, and Bee-John’s on the floor so he clearly wasn’t pictured. In between we would go to Earl’s, make lots of obnoxious noise as we irritated many of the people around us. I also played Monopoly Deal twice with Amul. As we left, I dropped my water bottle, which Bee-John just so happened to annoyingly kick. LOLS. We went to SAC to try to get a movie to rent, ultimately settling on just watching a movie on my laptop, which just so happened to be Phone Booth. Good suspense thriller. Go Jack Bauer <24. Tomorrow = more studying, but that will be AFTER Phil’s BBQ.
| As the standoff continues over funding the government for the rest of the fiscal year, both parties agreed on Friday to move ahead with a three-week stopgap bill that would cut an additional six billion dollars and avoid a potential federal shutdown. The measure, introduced by House Republicans, eliminates or reduces money for 25 government programs, saving $3.5 billion. Republicans chose from a list of programs President Obama wants cut or eliminated his 2012 budget and from items Senate Democrats proposed in a bill that failed earlier this week. The bill also rescinds funding that U.S. Department of Commerce never spent on the 2010 U.S. Census and eliminates $2.6 billion in earmarks that were extended in last year’s spending bill. The House is expected to vote on the bill early next week and send it to the Senate for a vote. House Speaker John Boehner said the purpose of the bill was to “give the American people another round of spending cuts as they wait for the Democrats who run Washington – in the Senate and White House – to determine a position other than the status quo.” SIGH :(.

On March 11th, 1993, North Korea withdraws from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. And now, we’re basically worried every time North Korea announces a nuclear project. I’m not particularly scared, because I think the U.S. has a strong enough military that we could wipe out the rest of the planet. Shrug. RON PAUL 2012 will save us all :). |
