Lots of stuff happened today, and even though there were some disappointments a majority of the day went well. First, I woke up and did P90x in the morning (in some kind of subpar way, but whatever). I then proceeded to lunch at Panda with Howard & Eric (although Eric was more of a party crasher than anything else). Me & Howard took a picture in honor of how long we’ve known each other (9th grade to present: which includes being roommates freshman year & apartment-mates sophomore year). We had a fun time chatting lunch away until Alexis joined our conversation later that lunch period. I would proceed to class and go to work. While there, I would see a rather disappointing and sad email that said I only got alternate for Orientation Leader. Hopefully people drop, but with 15 people on the waitlist and with no idea where my placement is on the list, the chances are slim to none. :(. Shrug. After work, I went to meet Howard yet again at Price Center. We chatted for a bit, proceeded to Yogurt World for some Yogurt and continued chatting away. Katie would see us through the clear glass windows and join us immediately after for some C&C (Chitchat). We would go to our video game studies class, where we saw two quite interesting videos. One of them was of Jesse Schnell presenting a rather interesting view of the future. In it, he suggests that the future will be increasingly commercialized, to the point where everything is allocated points as a sort of game system. I went ahead and allocated myself 100 points for this entire day. You really have to watch his presentation here to understand: http://fury.com/2010/02/jesse-shells-mindblowing-talk-on-the-future-of-games-dice-2010/
After class, me, Johann, Katie, & Tyler all headed over to Johann’s place to start editing out video documentary project. All I did during the entire time was split video clips, so hopefully Johann has a game plan of how everything will ultimately come together. After the lack of any real progress me, Katie, & Tyler would head over to Goodies where we consume some burritos. As Katie and I crashed the PAW Party late, we headed into a rather long meeting that extend all the way into 10:15 PM. In the middle of it, Sandy was nice enough to walk in and hand me a Pizza box with only 1 slice of Cheese pizza. :). At the end of the meeting Jake and I talked and decided not to go to Phil’s until the weekend and Sandy and I reaffirmed our weekly Wednesday Phil’s trips for Spring Quarter. The day ended with me, Lauren, & Amul going to Earl’s, me getting a milkshake from Leah (usual), and then heading back to my place to take care of some pretty mediocre tasks. +100 points for the whole day.
| In the first major event in Iowa featuring a series of potential candidates, five men likely to seek the GOP presidential nomination will speak Monday night at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Spring Kick Off. The coalition is one of the major political interest groups in the state. “Undoubtedly it will be the kickoff of the campaigning for the Iowa caucuses,” event organizer Steve Scheffler told CNN. The first-in-the-nation caucus is tentatively scheduled for February 2012. At the Point of Grace Church just outside Des Moines, radio personality and former pizza mogul Herman Cain, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum will have ten minutes to address the audience and provide a glimpse into their potential White House campaigns. The event will not include a question and answer session. I hate you Iowa…. oh so much….. |

On March 7th, 1876, : Alexander Graham Bell receives a patent for his revolutionary new invention the telephone. YAY, and the telephone revolutionizes America (and most other countries for the better). After the telegraph and the railroad came, the next great invention was the telephone, only to be replaced by the cellphone, and now the Internet.<244444444 |
