According to Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, one cannot achieve the upper levels of the pyramid without first achieving the bottom.

In 2009, I assessed myself and placed myself in between love & belong and esteem needs.
I would say nobody is ever “permanently” in any space, but now, upon being married, being a teacher, and being a father, I find myself more self-actualized than ever before. My purpose in life is not only to raise Kai, but to be a great husband to Katherine, while simutaneously attempting to better the lives of my students.
As a teacher, I will make an attempt to reach all my students, despite many of them lacking in love and belonging and self-esteem needs. I’ll have to admit that my job got easier this year with Kennedy students being higher on safety and physiological needs than the students previously taught at Dale. I aspire to be the very best each and everyday, trying to have an “excel” mindset in life.
