When I was in elementary school, I read a Weekly Reader article that said by the year 2016 people would start eating food encapsulated into pills to get their daily intake.

The more I look back on that article, the more ridiculous that sounds.

First off, the whole purpose of eating is not necessarily just for sustenance, but also for enjoyment purposes (and sometimes socializaing if eating with others. In feeding Kai every single day, it might feel a little redundant, but every time – and every meal is a little bit different. He’s proving to be quick a non-picker eater so far at least (the opposite of his dad).

As an adult, feeding time is equally important to me. Even though I’m currently on a 1200 calorie diet (to trim down on the dad bod acquired over the last 8 months), heavily restricting me from enjoying regular meals. However, we had some delicious food and I opted for a sandwich on Cheesecake Factory’s “Skinnylicious menu”. It tasted good, despite not really filling me up, and definitely not looking like the picture. Still, better than resorting to cheating on my diet and using Ozempic like many lazy Americans have resorted to.
