We started the process of looking at houses today in various cities in Orange County.
A few simple realizations and discoveries:
All of the houses within our price range are fixer uppers, and look like complete crap. I imagine that’s why they’re priced the way they are – otherwise they would be much more expensive. I’m not sure I want to invest that much money into renovations considering I’m not much of a handyman.
Townhouses are a lot newer and look much better, with of course the problem of monthly HOA fees, and shared walls. They do fit within our budget better.
Newer homes are of course more expensive, but much more visually appealing to us. Ultimately our preferences remain a single story location, with guest parking for friends to come by, and something that we will be able to live in for life .
I imagine we’re very early into the process, but are slowly figuring out what will be our “forever home” to raise future children in. It’s a great thing we’re in no rush since Southern California will always be a seller’s market.
