This year, I continued my newly built tradition of writing holiday letters, obviously from Santa. I’m not sure yet when I will be giving them to students.
The letters will of course tell the students if they’ve been good or bad students based on their personality traits within the classroom. I’m hopeful it will inspire at least a few knuckleheads to get their act together come 2024.
I imagine I will maintain the same gifting patterns for the unforseeable future, presenting words of affirmation each quarter in a different ways.
Quarter 1: Beginning of the year letters
Quarter 2: Letters from Santa
Quarter 3: Personalized Pokemon Cards
& Quarter 4: End of the Year Letters
Out of these 4 things, kids seem to resonate with the pokemon cards and end of the year letters the most, mostly because by then I already have a good feeling of who they are and what to actually include in the letter without being too generic.
I had to skip the quarter 1 letters this year due to not really being the “teacher” of the classroom. I’m also not sure how impactful the quarter 4 letters will be this year either since I’m just the aide in the classroom. But I suppose I will continue these traditions until something new comes along that I find superior.
