The Wellness Challenge

All of the Bright Star Schools are having a “fitness” challenge where they track their daily steps. The school with the best “average” steps a day based on participants will get a prize. The person from school with the best “average” steps a day will also get a prize. We got our fitbits yesterday.

I have been monitoring all activity on my personal Fitbit. The challenge started today, and I got a good head start by waking up at 5AM in the morning and attempting to go for a run. I got tired about halfway through, and at the same time I really needed to use the restroom. It also started sprinkling. It also didn’t help that I couldn’t go my usual route inside USC since they restricted only student access before 6AM. That’s terrible. The kids probably thought it was super weird I kept walking around the class constantly while lecturing and just watching some videos, but what they don’t know won’t hurt them. I’m not sure I can keep up the 5AM exercise regiment though, but I will certainly try.

As part of Project Equilibrium, I hope to use the opportunity presented before me to have a balance between sloth and exercise. Beyond wanting to win, I also want to improve my health simultaneously.

Here are my stats for the first ever day of my fitness challenge (till 6PM)! I hope I keep up the hard work. I will give you weekly updates as the competition progresses.
