Day 223: The Glee 3D Movie !

August 11th, 2011
Today I had a blast at the midnight premiere of the Glee 3D Movie. This was all after a long string of events though. With me going to work at EHS early in the morning, hanging out in Price Center for a couple hours, and then going home to video chat with Geetha, I was having a great day. Then Geetha ordered me some Papa John’s all the way from Fremont which was really sweet as I engaged in television viewing of Fox News, Pokemon, & Beverly Hills 90210. Lauren joined me when she got home and then left shortly thereafter for a nap. I watched the FOX News debate when she left, where Ron Paul totally dominated the night. After a few hours of playing Tetris, me Lauren, and Tyler went to CVS in an attempt to find Tyler a pirate costume. We essentially failed, went to Rite Aid to look for a better one but it was closed, so we drove all the way to Mira Mesa to go to WalGreens (where we still didn’t find the puppy dog playing cards he was looking for). It did strike a chord with me going to Mira Mesa though reminding me of all the times I bused there this summer (the bad part of the ThinkTogether experience I must say). Afterwards we went to Ralph’s to get snacks and then WATCHED THE AMAZING GLEE 3D MOVIE. Rachel BERRY YEEE!!!! Everything was so much better upclose and personal. A+. We snapped a Gleek picture with our 3D glasses subsequently.

History
A group of federal prisoners classified as “most dangerous” arrives at Alcatraz Island, a 22-acre rocky outcrop situated 1.5 miles offshore in San Francisco Bay. The convicts–the first civilian prisoners to be housed in the new high-security penitentiary–joined a few dozen military prisoners left over from the island’s days as a U.S. military prison. Alcatraz was an uninhabited seabird haven when it was explored by Spanish Lieutenant Juan Manuel de Ayala in 1775. He named it Isla de los Alcatraces, or “Island of the Pelicans.” Fortified by the Spanish, Alcatraz was sold to the United States in 1849. In 1854, it had the distinction of housing the first lighthouse on the coast of California. Beginning in 1859, a U.S. Army detachment was garrisoned there, and from 1868 Alcatraz was used to house military criminals. In addition to recalcitrant U.S. soldiers, prisoners included rebellious Indian scouts, American soldiers fighting in the Philippines who had deserted to the Filipino cause, and Chinese civilians who resisted the U.S. Army during the Boxer Rebellion. In 1907, Alcatraz was designated the Pacific Branch of the United States Military Prison. SCARY.
News
Later in the debate, Santorum and Paul battled over foreign policy and what they would do about Iran if elected to the White House. Paul, a libertarian and longtime critic of American efforts overseas, said the United States should engage in diplomacy with Iran. That prompted a fiery response from Santorum, who has long advocated for regime change in Iran. He told Paul that Americans should be wary of the Iranian nuclear threat. RON PAUL KO WINS.
