Day 184: TV, Games, & Food

July 3rd, 2011
If ever a day where my favorite generic hobbies came into the picture, today would be that day. In the morning I would go to Rosario’s place in an effort to use her Internet – for professional purposes (making a lesson plan, etc.) as well as gaming purposes (Tetris, etc.). When that was all said and done I went back to my place where I saw Hermano and Arthur crash on my couch. I ate noodles, which didn’t fill me up, so I ate a sandwich immediately afterwards. Afterwards, me, Tyler, and Lauren talked for a decent amount of time before finally deciding to watch more episodes of How I Met your Mother. Rosario came over to join us, and we watched about roughly two episodes, before playing a fun game of Settlers of Catan. I won the first round and Tyler won the second round. YAY MAN POWER! Afterwards, we had a relatively lengthy conversation and debate about PAW, as well as whether Wiz Khalifa was a murderer or not. Tyler and I both thought so, but Lauren and Rosario vehemently disagreed. Manuel and Eric saw us for a bit and joined our conversation as me and Tyler double teamed Lauren and Rosario in funny ways. Afterwards, the four of us proceeded to McDonald’s where I took my picture of the day. YUM. Rosario paid for me in owing me money, and I sincerely think McDonald’s > all the dining hall food on campus (except maybe Stir Fry). When we got back, Tyler left for a party, so me, Lauren, and Rosario watched some Dexter. I fell asleep during the 3rd-6th episode we watched, and Tyler came back. I ultimately gave up at the end and went to my room to sleep. It wasn’t that great of a show ANYWAY. HMPHFT.

History
On the third day of the Battle of Gettysburg, Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s last attempt at breaking the Union line ends in disastrous failure, bringing the most decisive battle of the American Civil War to an end. In June 1863, following his masterful victory at the Battle of Chancellorsville, General Lee launched his second invasion of the Union in less than a year. He led his 75,000-man Army of Northern Virginia across the Potomac River, through Maryland, and into Pennsylvania, seeking to win a major battle on Northern soil that would further dispirit the Union war effort and induce Britain or France to intervene on the Confederacy’s behalf. The 90,000-strong Army of the Potomac pursued the Confederates into Maryland, but its commander, General Joseph Hooker, was still stinging from his defeat at Chancellorsville and seemed reluctant to chase Lee further. Meanwhile, the Confederates divided their forces and investigated various targets, such as Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania capital. YAY
