Day 182: Hard Day’s Night.

July 1st, 2011
It’s been a hard day’s night, and I’ve been working like a dog. I’m super glad it’s a three day weekend, not to mention the end of the week, because I most definitely need a break. I went to EH&S this morning super early with Geetha at about roughly 7:30 AM. While there, I made a ton of brochures, before busing back to Mira Mesa for ThinkTogether: Day 5. Today was tough to say the least. The first half of the day was chill as I got entangled in more gossip details during lunch, and let group 7 peacefully play boardgames during period 1 (I even joined them for a round of Uno that never finished). The same girls that gossiped to me yesterday alerted me that the boy they liked now liked someone else, and subsequently they aligned themselves with her in an effort to break the boy’s heart and soul. Tragic. The latter half of the day was super frustrating as I encountered resistance from all sides with the challenge of disciplining group 8. I told them just to sit there and play boardgames, and I thought that would be fine, but it wasn’t. Some kid tried to steal raffle tickets, while other kids were running around, while other kids threw things. I told them to stop, and alerted the principal. During the next period she overlooked half the group, telling me advice on how to keep things under control. My least favorite group by far, but there are some good apples in the rotten bunch. I sincerely hope I do not have to supervise them on the field trip next week. They were right when they said I would have some good days (yesterday), and bad days (today). Shrug. When I was done I bused back to campus to use some of the Price Center computers.

After busing to Geetha’s place, I picked up my laptop and backpack before busing back to the La Regencia complex in an effort to cook. Geetha made me some delicious pasta yet again, and subsequently my stomach ended on a happy note. We somehow ended up talking to Lauren about her life, her boys, and her problems, before ultimately leaving for the Ralph’s shopping complex. On the bus though the bus driver reprimanded me for putting my feet on another seat, and subsequently I was sad for a majority of the rest of the night. We went to Ralph’s where Geetha bought toilet paper before going directly to Golden Spoon, where I took my picture of the day. We ended up spending the right of the night chillaxing at her place, her trying to make me feel better about the bus driver’s hatred towards me. THE BEST WAY TO SPEND A FRIDAY NIGHT!

History
At midnight on July 1, 1997, Hong Kong reverts back to Chinese rule in a ceremony attended by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Prince Charles of Wales, Chinese President Jiang Zemin, and U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. A few thousand Hong Kongers protested the turnover, which was otherwise celebratory and peaceful. EEK.

Candidates can only be in one place at one time, but their logos can be anywhere. The carefully-crafted designs represent a candidate’s brand, attempting to capture a multi-million dollar campaign in a symbol simple enough to fit on a button. TRUE NO DOUBT.

P.S.: SO TRUE
