The title of my blog post for the day indicates that in order to become a successful program leader, I need to get smart when it comes to what it is that appeals to kids: FOOD, PRIZES, & FUN. To interest them and at the same time entertain them will be a daunting task, but I must be confident in my abilities in order to successfully pull through in the end.
In the morning I went to EH&S, and then I bused to Fashion Valley preparing yet again to go through another day of Think Together’s Training program. I ate lunch at a Japanese place in Fashion Valley first, before busing over to Taft Middle School, where for the day we were given lesson plans for music and film club, and were told to improvise on how to teach kids 5 weeks of lessons in 8 periods. FUN! I think I like my fellow Wangeinheim program leaders a lot, because they are really funny, and we are all easy going, as is our site coordinator whose name I have yet to remember. I know it ends with a “Quisha” though. ALSO, we got to act out a silent film skit based on the movie THE SANDLOT, which I have never seen. But I played the character Smalls in looking like an idiot not knowing how to play baseball. Something tells me I would really enjoy this movie…
After those two forms of work, I went back to UCSD Campus to use their Internet. FUN! I first used internet at price center, ate Panda Express for dinner (OMG, two meals in one day), and then went to Geisel to use the computer for 90 more minutes. It’s a bad sign when you’re in the library on a Thursday in the Summertime. It was chill catching up on emails, facebook, and playing Tetris simultaneously. Afterwards I met up with Pam at PetSmart where she bought a beta fish and I browsed around looking at cute hamsters. One was especially demonic though. I took a picture of PetSmart using it as my picture of the day. Afterwards we conversed as we went to TapEx for get some drinks, before she went to come check out my place for a bit. She left, and subsequently thereafter I told myself bedtime stories to sleep. 6 AM training tomorrow, but my first shift at WANGENHEIM. FUN TIMES.
