Positives: My Group was relatively behaved. I took a picture with them as we explored the SDSU campus, except one of them didn’t want to be in it. Other than that, there weren’t any real problems, except with 2 students who kept wandering off not sticking with the group. But it’s not like they were attacking anyone, so I’m fine with it, since they all came home safe. Lunch, in the form of subway sandwiches, was delicious also. Gossip continued to be very entertaining, as one of the gossip queens told me the guy he liked (who she dated for 7 months prior), said “I love you” to the girl he liked, the girl in a relationship with the gossip queen’s cousin. It was a little sneaky seeing that girl be in a relationship with a guy, but still kind of fooling around and teasing the guy who admitted to loving her. SIGH, Kids are growing up way too fast these days.
Negatives: LACK OF PROPER ORGANIZATION. We arrived at the campus, Waigenheim being the only school without t-shirts. I don’t know if that’s our site coordinator’s fault or not, but we sure felt out of place and jealous of the other schools that had students with various different color t-shirts (blue and green just to name a few). WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WE WERE DOING OR GOING. At the beginning everyone played a game called “Junk in the Trunk”, but it was extremely hard to hear because even though the site coordinator from another school had a microphone to use, he decided not to, but instead simply just yelled. FAIL. FAIL. Then, just as we thought we were going to go on a scavenger hunt, the whole thing is called off, us instead being allowed to simply roam around the campus. ONLY PROBLEM – WE DIDN’T KNOW THE CAMPUS, SO WE HAD NO IDEA WHERE WE WERE GOING. FAIL. Next, it was time for lunch which was delicious, but almost disastrous, when one of the site coordinators came up to us and told us we didn’t have enough food for our students. WTF MAN. WTF. Up until this point, the sun wasn’t really bothering us, minus the fact that we had to walk around all day in it. Me and Mr. Alex though decided to get two cases of water bottles to provide to the students, which somewhat helped deal with the heat temporarily. After lunch though, they made all the students from all 8 schools sit down on the blistering hot grass, to hear what would be very unclear decisions. SIGH. We all would do our school cheers… only problem, our school didn’t have one set in motion. Our site coordinators blamed one of our PL’s for it, but I knew it was total B.S. The entire unorganized summer has been mostly her fault, and whenever any of us tried to correct it by offering suggestions, we got shut down the entire time. LACKLUSTER. Next was the Amazing Race challenge, which was terrible. The instructions were unclear, and the people heading the individual gaming stations didn’t seem to know exactly what to do – how to time the games, and how to let the students win. I only got through 4 stations out of 10 before realizing it was over. It was SUPER CONFUSING. Next was the Awards Ceremony, which was just painful. We all had to watch other schools celebrate their victories. I didn’t exactly know what victories they were celebrating exactly (it must have been the game just played), but I was busy getting water and delivering it to various students in the blistering heat. I felt sorry for all the kids. I wanted to die in the sun, so knowing them, they probably would have much less endurance than I would…. SAD. End of Field Trip = Best part of the Field Trip.
Enough for the rant. When I got back, I played Boardgames with Group 2, who were simply angels. My favorite group fo’shizzle. By the end of the day, we all said our farewells to Berkelee, since it’s ultimately her last day. :'( We snapped a picture of her, before I ultimately bused back to my place. While at home I made some delicious Spam, Eggs, and Rice, as well as did laundry while catching up on Internet related activities. Afterwards, I would bus on over to Geetha’s place to hang out with her for quite a long time – it included watching 24 and conversing with her. TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY OF WORK FOREVER!

| In the first major land battle of the Civil War, a large Union force under General Irvin McDowell is routed by a Confederate army under General Pierre G.T. Beauregard. Three months after the Civil War erupted at Fort Sumter, Union military command still believed that the Confederacy could be crushed quickly and with little loss of life. In July, this overconfidence led to a premature offensive into northern Virginia by General McDowell. Searching out the Confederate forces, McDowell led 34,000 troops–mostly inexperienced and poorly trained militiamen–toward the railroad junction of Manassas, located just 30 miles from Washington, D.C. Alerted to the Union advance, General Beauregard massed some 20,000 troops there and was soon joined by General Joseph Johnston, who brought some 9,000 more troops by railroad. HRM I GUESS I BELIEVE IT. |
