April 1st, 2011
Mandy Moore came to my school today, in what would be the first day of a long CGIU Conference (Clinton Global Initiative University – Hosted by none other than Bill Clinton)! You might think this is a cruel April Fool’s Joke, but as you’ll realize I’m being honest.
In the morning I would go to work and prepare for the conference by printing out handouts about my commitment to raising technology awareness & computer literacy to the underprivileged and more impoverished communities in the local San Diego area. My boss also showed me his SUPER COOL car – which was purely electrical power. So amazing. http://www.egmcartech.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/2011_chevrolet_volt_images_004.jpgAfter doing so, I headed to lunch at Pines with Amul, Jessica, and Jessica’s friend to talk much about CGIU (among other things). I then proceeded to Bear Garden where I met up with Geetha. Before we went though we proceeded to Yogurt World, where I bumped into Howard, who walked straight into the place and was like “Will I make your blog today?”. Clearly, he did. Points for him. Me & Geetha headed to Bear Garden where we got free pizza, free subway, and most importantly free water (I’m still on Lent). As she left I saw Amul, Michael, and Adam for a bit, before ultimately hanging out with Alexis. We got some ice cream as I ultimately left to begin the CGIU weekend.
CGIU STARTS. I went to Rimac to get my registration packet for CGIU (exciting!), and I saw Alex working the registration booth. As I headed back to my apartment to shower (IT WAS SUCH A HOT DAY), I changed into my more formal clothes, and headed straight to Price Center for the Networking Session. While there I basically networked with a ton of people for 2 and a half hour straight describing my commitments to them while them reciting their commitments to me. It was interesting, and slightly entertaining for a while, but my voice got a little raspy after a certain point. Enthusiasm slowly waned. I also met a deaf guy from Africa, and communicated for the first time through a deaf translator. YAY! I also saw Kiet Le, one of my buddies all the way from 6th grade (WOW!). He goes to Irvine now. While at the Session Mandy Moore spoke a few remarks and I snapped a picture of her beautiful presence. Afterwards I left to hear Bill Clinton speak at the RIMAC arena. HE WAS A GREAT SPEAKER, just like Maryanne Fox. The panel today was interesting, but also a tad tedious at times. I sat with some buddies I met all the way from Spain, and was slightly inspired to follow through with my commitment.
After the opening ceremony, I headed to In&Out with Katie, Lauren, and Alex (they’re volunteering at CGIU). While there I networked some more with a few people from China and exchanged business cards subsequently. Eventually Alex dropped me off in Sixth college, where I met up with Geetha and Rashika. We headed back to my apartment where we watched Memento with Amul and then chatted for a bit. What a great movie, with such a shocking twist at the end. I won’t spoil it for anyone, but it’s definitely a must see. I ended the night tired, expecting to wake up early the next morning.
BTW: Mike Posner at SunGod. CONFIRMED. YESSSSSSSSSSSS

| On April 1st 1918, The Royal Air force is founded in England, an amazing piece of History as the first flight was only made 8 years before by Wilbur and Wright and for countries around the World to set up a separate arms of the Forces shows how important politicians believed the aircraft would become as a part of the military. The aircraft in use in 1918 when the RAF started included the Sopwith Pup, Bristol F2B Fighters, Sopwith Camels and Royal Aircraft Factory SE5’s. 🙂 |

| The unemployment rate in the U.S. unexpectedly fell to a two-year low of 8.8 percent in March as employers created more jobs than forecast, adding to evidence the labor-market recovery is gaining traction. Payrolls rose by 216,000 workers last month after a 194,000 gain the prior month, the Labor Department said yesterday in Washington. Economists projected a March increase of 190,000, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey. A separate report showed manufacturing expanded at close to the fastest pace in seven years. OUCH |
P.S.:
