Kai’s Aquarium Immersion

Continuing our goalz of giving Kai many enriching experiences in life, we decided to take him to the aquarium of the pacific today. The field trip itself proved to be mildly successful, as Kai enjoyed looking at many of the fishies. Of course, this fascination with the sea creatures came to an abrupt end in the midst of his desire to both eat and simultaneously nap. Being that this baby doesn’t get out nearly enough, he’s used to napping in calm and quiet environments, free from the distraction of everyday crowds. Or maybe the fish weren’t good enough for him. It’s good that he has high standards in life, I suppose.

In the end, I do think it was an unique experience for him, even if he will most likely never remember it in his life. Still, it was nice that the aquarium itself wasn’t too crowded. Definitely the peak of the crowds is in summer, especially during summer camp field trips (Fairmont memories!!!).

We aren’t necessarily scared to go out as parents with Kai anymore, but we do know there are many challenging hurdles everyday in doing so. Mostly how we will be able to cram in nap and feeding sessions for Kai in unique and new environments. I imagine life will be much simpler when he is able to eat solids. Though he’s fast growing up, we will make sure to cherish each and every minute. For future events, we’ll have to weigh whether taking him with us is worth the trade off of him potentially losing sleep and a disruption to his daily routine. He’s a creature of habit, for sure.
