This year, I continue to be thankful for the many blessings I have in my life.
Of course my #1 new blessing in my life is Kai, even though he drives me nuts during the witching hour, and of course waking up in the middle of the night numerous times.
Katherine remains my #1 person of all time who I am thankful for, even though she would save Kai over me if we were both dangling off a cliff. Tragic that I’m losing to a 6 month old.
As a new parent, I now have a refined thankfulness for the parents that have gotten me to where I am today. Without my mom and dad and their hard work over the years, I would not be the person I am today. Every day as a parent makes more and more appreciative of what they brought me and my siblings over the years. You really don’t understand the “sacrifice” your parents made until you live it.
I continue to be grateful for all the friends, past and present who have gotten me to where I am today. The high school friends that endured all the emo nights. The college friends that played many boardgames with me (and took me to Phil’s BBQ). And the teacher friends over the years that can relate to our everyday experiences that no other profession can truly understand.
I’m forever thankful for the ability to continue to teach “children”. Now in a new setting, I am even more appreciative of all the students that strive to do their best each and every day at Kennedy High School. And though most of the co-workers there are quite jaded beyond belief, I am grateful to the few that continue to do right by the kids everyday and inspire me to continue doing my best.
Though there will always be people that will bring negativity to your life and induce unnecessary drama, I am thankful to those that continue to uplift me everyday to be the best father, son, friend, and teacher I could possibly be.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
