There’s something incredibly special about marking the beginning of Thanksgiving Break with a vibrant honor roll celebration. We went all out for our honor roll recipients, those shining stars with a 3.5 GPA or better (GPA Inflation included), treating them to refreshing popsicles out on the field. The PTSA’s creativity and dedication in decorating made it an absolute success.

Reflecting on my own school days, I couldn’t help but wish for the recognition I never received at Alamitos Intermediate despite making the Honor Roll a whopping 8 times. It’s amazing to see the recognition and appreciation students get today, and even nice to get some thank yous for once while handing out the popsicles. I wish I got thank yous for teaching instead.
As I navigate my role in education, I find myself increasingly drawn to the enriching interactions beyond the confines of the classroom—the Builder’s Club, Honor Roll awards, Dale senate meetings, and those unforgettable field trips. It feels like a natural shift, reminiscent of what sparked my passion for teaching in the first place: the exhilarating experience of mentoring middle schoolers during a summer camp at Waigenheim, teaching them the art of film intertwined with math.
I’ve come to believe that when these interactions with students are infused with positivity, it’s like kindling for the fire of passion. I’m truly thankful for this upcoming Thanksgiving break—a chance to recharge and appreciate the journey that led me here.
