Well, yesterday’s blog post had a spike in viewership. I guess that’s why clickbait works. I do feel sorry for many of the people that saw the picture but didn’t bother to click on the link though. Which means they still might think I’m a principal. Oops.
Anyway, I appreciate the ability to “be present” as much as possible in the life of Kai, and to make every minute with him count.
But there will be days where this opportunity will be negated by the other duties I have, in this case, adjunct duties required to me by my union contract. Subsequently 3 of those hours were devoted today after school for a Track meet, where I helped record some Discus throwing. It was pretty cool actually, and I appreciate these low-key sports with little to no cheering much more than the aggressive ones (football namely). And also, it allowed me to see the personalities of some students outside of the classroom.
If I was still single and lonely like I was in Los Angeles, I imagine I would know all my students a lot better. But that time has come and gone, and so long are the Builder’s Club field trips and post-food adventures I would take students on back in my youth.
