Day 6: Sea World

It’s time now for Kai’s first trip to San Diego. One of many I must admit especially if Phil’s BBQ is going to become his favorite restaurant.

The day’s adventure started with a quick 2.5 hour commute to Sea World, where Kai eventually fell asleep to the sound of my shushing.

Sea World itself was a memorable experience and really only visited due to the free teacher tickets I got. 37 dollars for parking kind of cancels it out though. Who do they think they are – Disneyland?! They are obviously not even close to that tier. I would even say they’re below Knott’s Berry Farm in terms of theme-park tiers.

But anyway, we tried the all day dining pass which proved to be worth it since all the food is overpriced anyway. The fine print says you’re not allowed to share but it’s not enforced so it all works out in the end, even if the food wasn’t obviously Phil’s BBQ quality.

As for Kai himself, he was pretty good a majority of the trip. The nursing stations allowed us the opportunity to change him, feed him, and give him his much needed naps. Along the way Kai got to meet some cool animals – penguins, whales, sea otters, and of course some flirtatious flamingos. We also saw a ginormous walrus which reminded of me right before my diet. My 600-pound life walrus edition.

Will Kai remember the trip? Probably not. But we will as parents, and that’s all that matters. After checking in our hotel room, it was time for Kai’s 3rd trip to Phil’s BBQ (and my 222nd). Fun times. Tomorrow will be even more jam-packed.
