In my 11 years of teaching, I have never felt trusting enough of students to be able to pick their own seats.

That was, until this year. Teaching seniors, especially those in the IB program – it’s pretty easy to trust them to do the right thing. So far, so good this semester, and I really imagine due to their intrinsic motivation it’s not going to be much of a problem. It’s nice seeing their true personalities come to life as a subsequent result.

Yesterday, I suffered a severe headache that prevented me from updating my blog. This could be due to a variety of factors, but was most likely due to dehydration or the sudden weather change. Whichever the case, taking care of a newborn right after work proved itself to be quite a challenge. Having a baby after work = hard work. Having a baby after work with headache and nasuea = Nightmare mode. But these things will happen, which is the reason why I didn’t necessarily commit to blogging daily.

Speaking of teaching, I’m still weighing whether it makes sense to teach high school. The only pro of going back to middle school would be getting out at 2:30. Which effectively means getting an hour of more quality time to spend with Kai.

Suffer in middle school to spend 1 extra hour with Kai, or deal with the less stressful high school environment but lose quality time? My heart is split at this present moment.
