I went to renew my license 2 months ago at the Westminster DMV. I did the vision test, took a photo, paid the fee, and was told I would be mailed the license to my address.
2 months later, it is nowhere to be found in the mail. I decided to call the DMV myself to see what happened – the state office told me after 2 hours waiting on the phone “no vision test was submitted”. They told me there was nothing they could do on their end and I would have to go back to the Westminster DMV to get it sorted out. The sad part was that there were no appointments available until January, which meant I would have to wait in line.
And so, on the Monday of my week off, I woke up extra early and went to the DMV. When getting my number, I told the lady my story, and she apologized saying that the technician didn’t do their job correctly. Eventually, after another 30 minute wait, the person at the window was super confused on why they didn’t get my license. They resubmitted everything again. Fingers crossed that I actually get it in the mail this time.
It’s sad the level of incompetence. Failure on two fronts: them not submitting the paperwork the first time, and not alerting me directly that there was an error. Instead, I had to call myself to figure out what had happened. SO FRUSTRATING!
Such is the level of mismanagement of any large bureaucratic organization I suppose. There needs to be more checks and balances to prevent things like this from happening in the future. Before this date, I was mostly apathetic about the DMV, but now I join the group of people all over the world that hate this poorly run organization.
