A great singer once sang, “Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?”

The reality is this person was living in a fantasy world. Airplanes are quite the opposite from shooting stars, simply used as a vessel to travel from place to place. Though I’ve only been on airplanes a few times in my life, I am grateful for this transportation mechanism allowing me to travel all over the world. It is a true luxury I wish everyone could experience at one point in their lives.

Regrettably, the reality of air travel necessitates navigating the inevitable inconvenience of airports, an essential yet often convoluted process that could benefit from greater efficiency. Post-9/11 security measures have undeniably burdened all Americans, but I recognize the necessity of sacrificing a degree of personal freedom in the name of collective security, even as someone who once held libertarian ideals.

As I embark on a journey across America, from California to Seattle, my thoughts will be forever intertwined with the pioneering spirits who have bestowed upon us a better world. From Magellan to Neil Armstrong, I am profoundly grateful for their extraordinary discoveries. May this adventure alongside Katherine, my partner, during our second honeymoon to Alaska, also grant me the opportunity to uncover remarkable experiences and revelations of my own. I will share them directly here on johnletran.com for all my fans and enemies.
