Nhi Nguyen believes people don’t actually really change, and that they end up just “evolving” over time.
The core of her values and heart remains the same, as she continues to see the world in such an interesting light (as an optometrist at least).
And yet, I don’t actually agree with her. I think people do change very often. For her, it is in subtle ways, but seeing as she’s not a huge fan of Disney movies anymore, I do think she has matured into a different version of herself. She also didn’t like Crazy Rich Asians either, which I think her high school version of herself would have enjoyed, seeing that she was thoroughly obsessed with Camp Rock.
That being said, I don’t care how much she changes, because I’ll know at the end of the day she is a great person, and she’ll continue to showcase that in the work she does for her current and future patients.
I hope she continues to see the world with 20/20 vision and we’ll remain friends till death, like former best friends are supposed to do.
