Day 37: Sam Choi’s Travel Discoveries

Never judge a man before you are able to walk a mile in his shoes. Unfortunately for me, and for all of us, we will never be able to walk a mile in the shoes of greatness – that greatness being of course in Sam Choi, the teacher of the year.

As he continues his travel journey (read his blog here), he has now been to five Central and South American countries, and will continue to travel till the year is up. His biggest revelation from traveling is purely internal. He saw traveling as an opportunity to become more social, and as an introvert, meet more people. However, he realizes that no matter what, a part of your personality will still linger wherever you go in the world. And so though he had lots of energy and enthusiasm at first in meeting lots of people, this ended up being exhausting for his introverted self and he retreated back to his regular persona of keeping to himself mostly.

This is of course, okay, because his personality is one to be admired and respected. His big heart will inspire all the people of South America to be better people as he continues to volunteer in school and help out good regions of the world. I wish him luck in his travels and hope the future foods he eats is as good as Peru’s.

Your teaching practices have inspired me to try to improve my craft each and every day in the classroom.
