Day 36: Noelle Herrera’s Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year, or if you’re Vietnamese “Chúc mừng năm mới.” Or to my dad today, happy 70th birthday!

For my homeroom students today, I gave them all lucky red envelopes, while teaching them a brief history of Chinese New Year’s, and the origins of the Chinese Zodiac. I attached brief notes in each envelope for them accordingly.

In my conversation today with Noelle Herrera, we were in the movie theater where I was basically forced to talk to her uninterrupted since my phone was taken away by the free movie screening people. In whichever case, we caught up on the basics of my life. My Chinese New Year’s resolution will be to eat more pork in honor of the year of the pig.

As for the movie itself, the movie was called “Ma”, but I’m not allowed to talk to it because I signed a non-disclosure agreement.

To be honest, I don’t really care though. The movie was pretty good, and I would definitely recommend it. It wasn’t a typical horror movie, and it was more situational horror if anything – kind of like Get Out in a way. It’s uniqueness and humor made it a standout and I would recommend it to anyone when it comes out.

I hope Noelle the best in her new year, as she continues to teach the magic of kindergarteners.

Likewise, happy new year to everyone else reading this blog, and I hope you the best of luck in life this coming year.
