Winfred Hwang has come back from Central America and his hitchhiking adventures to visit our school campus. In addition to the stories he provided, and the hospitality he was able to ascertain in Mexico, he shared some much needed advice on the laws of attraction – most specifically in his courtship of Laura Fernandez.
- Make fun of her / Tease her. Winfred certainly did this with Laura and succeeded in making fun of her in Mexican ways.
- Be confident. Winfred has a naturally charismatic and charming personality so this worked out easily for him.
- Recommend other guys for her to date / hang out with lots of other girls (abundance theory). Among the list of candidates were Eugene Hahn and Samuel Choi, both eligible bachelors at the time.
- Pretend not to care, or don’t actually care. Of course, Laura doesn’t think so.
- Don’t be too available. Going away for 6 months is the antithesis of being too available.
- Mold the rest of these tips based on the girl you are pursuing, because girls and people are not monoliths but rather individuals.
Keeping these tips in mind, I am certain Winfred will maintain his relationship with Laura and they will live happily ever after. Now that he’s back I’m almost positive I will never see Laura around ever again either.

In other news, I finished book 3, John Green’s Turtles All the Way Down.
Here’s a quote about life that was meaningful to me from the book:
“You’re everything everything everything… you’re both the fire and the water that extinguishes it. You’re the narrator, the protagonist, and the sidekick. You’re the storyteller and the story told. You are somebody’s something, but you are also your you.”
