This Sunday morning Phillip introduced me to one of his nice little Sunday adventures – volunteering at a warehouse for Manna for Life ministries (a non-profit food charity). Our conversations centered around the process of volunteering, life in general, and making future plans together. I’m grateful to have a friend like him in my life that is good-hearted enough to help his local community in his spare time. A true measure of anyone’s character is what they are willing to do in their free time, and he has showcased his moral integrity today to me.
While volunteering we helped sort out foods, organize them into boxes, and stocked them into the pantry to be given out to local charities across Santa Ana.

I always feel better about myself after volunteering and hope to engage in more opportunities this year even outside of Builder’s Club. Later, in full-filling my goal to create a new meal each and every week, I created hamburgers for the first time using my cookbook. I bought ground beef, made them into patties, and prepared them accordingly.

Given that the recipe required the use of barbecue sauce, I gave myself the opportunity to use Phil’s BBQ sauce for the first time! It ended up looking not too appetizing, but it tasted delicious! In the end, we’ll see tomorrow if I get sick or not.
