I end this blog journey of examining 26 teachers with the best and quite arguably most effective teacher at our school today.
Since my first day at our school, I have witnessed the beauty and amazingness that is Ruth Kim. She has great classroom management, has proven strategies that work for her students, and does her best to simultaneously balance a life outside of our school and a life inside of school (one that obviously involves her mom doing laundry and cooking for her in Garden Grove).

Not only that – I have always felt comfortable going up to her and asking questions, and not feeling judged. This is unlike some of the other encounters I’ve experienced over my tenure here. As a grade level chair, she is firm, yet effective to the point where people never feel intimidated or talked down upon. I almost had the chance to be in her grade level, but was sadly moved to the 7th grade in the previous year.
I saw firsthand the ability of hers last year to comfort a teacher when he was at his lowest point, and I see the humanity and heart within her. I know she cares about each and every one of her students, and simultaneously cares about each and every one of the teachers here. Her journey through life brought her to Rise since she was merely a teaching assistant, and clearly her loyalties remain with Rise.
I wish her the best of luck in the future in teaching both at Rise, and in pursuing potential leadership abilities. One day she will make a superstar principal and change the world forever. Thank you Ruth for always doing your personal best, and inspiring me to be just like you.
