Today, I will honor a rather strange creature at our school named Mr. Pak, perhaps not for his teacher qualities, but rather his friendship qualities.
He gives rather long-winded speeches about authority and respect to his students, and I can commemorate him for always trying his best to improve the behavior of said students. They are in middle school though, so it’ll always be in one ear and out the other.
Anyway, aside from his teaching “skills”, his friendship skills are pretty awesome. Easy to rant to. Easy to hear rants from, mostly about women, students, and other minor dismeanors.
His number 1 quality is probably his honesty. Some people might find some of the comments he says off-putting, but I find it quite charming in the way that he’s much more unhinged than other people. People beat around the bush too much, but he’s a straight shooter, and I can honestly respect that. I’m a straight shooter myself, telling my students I hate them.
Anyway, it’s been nice grabbing food for him after work on several days (mostly last year). We had pho today.

I’ve also gone to Phil’s with him three times now which was nice.

I have no doubts we’ll remain friends long after we are done teaching.
