Day 32: Ocean Avenue

I was just getting used to living on my own, but it’s nice now to have some company. My friend moved in today, and is residing in my living room for the time being. The perks: He knows how to cook!

In other news, the Superbowl was today. I didn’t really care much for the halftime show and could barely hear Katy Perry because of all the screaming audience. It did mean though that grocery shopping took twice as long because of all the extra customers. I got a “Smiths reward” card, another discount club card that will be forever embedded in my wallet (and will probably only be used a total of 6 times). IMG_0108

February is a new month! Every week will be devoted to a new theme or artist. This week’s artist is YELLOWCARD, their earliest hit being of course Ocean Avenue, which makes me nostalgic for the past as well as longing for a future. Ocean Avenue is a symbol of the ideal place, where things get better. I do think this I will eventually leave this “town”, Las Vegas, given certain circumstances. Who knows where I’ll go from here? Maybe I’ll teach English in Korea ;).

There’s a piece of you that’s here with me
It’s everywhere I go, it’s everything I see
When I sleep, I dream and it gets me by
I can make believe that you’re here tonight
That you’re here tonight
If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we’ll be together
Let your waves crash down on me and take me away
