#4: Ron Paul @ UCSD

One of the most enduring memories of my college experience will be the day we brought Ron Paul to UCSD. This was no easy task to say the least, as me and the leadership for Youth for Ron Paul gathered signatures for nearly 2 and a half quarters. (Elizabeth, Paul, Chase, Amy, etc).

From the first few weeks of meetings we had, we were deeply motivated to get Ron Paul the presidency. We tabled on library walk, spread the message of liberty wherever we could, and eventually pursued the attainment of petition signatures. Peter, the Western Regional Director, helped us throughout the course of the entire three quarters – as the event took forever to come to full fruition. I even went to UCLA under the fear of potentially not being able to bring him to UCSD (Granted, I did see him in speak in Iowa).

Eventually, when the campaign gave us a date, we pushed to find a venue. Rimac? 40,000? No thanks. The school was extremely difficult to work with, so difficult in fact that the Barack Obama campaign who originally planned to come to the school gave up (having to go through all the red tape and bureaucratic mess was way too difficult). Elizabeth and Paul pulled through though scheduling a conference call with Edward King (the Youth for Paul director). The logistics were all set up, and Ron Paul spread his message of liberty on May 5th on Warren Mall (speech below):

In the end I got a picture, a handshake, and a Thank You from the good doctor. Not only am I inspired to continue spreading the message of liberty, I can do it proudly and happily motivated. Even if Ron Paul loses this election, his message will continue to resonate with our generation. The REVOLUTION will live on. (and it will not be televised).
