I am now all caught up with one of the greatest shows of all time: How I Met Your Mother. And though, I must admit there’s been some pretty bad episodes (pretty much all of season 6), the show highly resonates with me. Ted, the main character, is in an endless pursuit for the girl of his dreams, whom he wishes to marry. We know he accomplishes his goals, due to the basic premise of the show: he tells his kids how he met his mother. And through a series of endless flashbacks, he relays the dragged out story to all of us. The show is essentially a long, drawn-out tease, but it reels you into finding out why Ted marries the girls he does. The show’s overarching theme helps connect key plot points from season to season, and fundamentally ties it all together in a pretty satisfying arch.
Ted, as mentioned below, is extremely likable because of his hopeless-romantic pursuits for the girl of his dreams. Barney is hilarious as the “player” of the group, as he goes around constantly pursuing woman to have sex with. Marshall and Lilly have a cute, yet completely healthy relationship with one another – based on true honesty and open communication. That leaves Robin, who I must admit is the weakest pillar of the show – she is essentially the tease of the show. Though she’s not as open as Barney is, she essentially is also a slut. Still, she is against marriage, against having kids, and wishes to rid herself of relationships altogether. Now, that’s all fine and dandy…. but then why do you have to go around teasing Ted for all of season 1, and teasing men from that point on the rest of the series? Go kill yourself Robin. Good stuff.
it’s because you’re a hopeless romantic. Ted is a tool, but i love him and lay off robin bitch! season 6 wasn’t bad..especially compared to 8.
Well considering that many parts of the show center around Robin, we’d have like 2 less seasons without her.
I have yet to watch this show. I remember you telling me you have the dvds! Marathon soon?
I had the files on my computer, but then the computer crashed.
Also, why are you so mean to Robin ): I’m pretty sure if the creators develop her character more, you will be able to understand her point of view.
