My #2 love language is Acts of Service. I find this the most straightforward of all love languages. And this is mostly how my parents showed love to my siblings and I growing up – through the act of service of working hard to provide for our family of 8 (I have no idea how they did it…)
I am trying to extend those Acts of Service to Kai accordingly. This week, in addition to a massive heat wave in Southern California as well as him possibly teething (and losing his appetite subsequently), I had to devote 24/7 of my life to him to follow him around and feed him, console him to nap, as well as console him to sleep on many restless nights. When he eats less, he gets hungry in the middle of the night, resulting in an incomplete sleep cycle for both father and son. Truly tragic.
Of course I made sure to take him out as much as possible, including a trip to Rodeo 39, where he was once again very strangely well behaved. He acts like this when mom’s not around.
The week also comprised of several visits to Grandma’s, where he would continue to show very obvious signs of teething (mostly through decreased appetite) and chewing his teething toy.

Finally, the last 3 (and least important love languages):
Words of Affirmation: Since this is an Asian-American household, I will make sure to tell Kai that I love him through kind words and communication as we continue to get older.
Physical Touch: Of course this is going to be easy to do with a baby, holding him, and rocking him to nap and sleep throughout the week. As he gets older, he will need this less and less.
Finally, the most shallow of all love languages: Gifts. Anyone that has this as their #1 love language is highly SUS in my opinion. But anyway, I gave Kai a gift this week in the form of a Hot Wheels Monster Truck set (provided to me free by my sister). Even though he’s a bit young for it still, he enjoys sitting on it even though it’s not a particularly soft surface.
