Week 6: Quality Time

There’s only 5 weeks of summer break left, so I need to make every minute count.

It’s a good thing Kai is getting quality time with me each and every day, since that happens to be my #1 love language.

Now, what does quality time comprise of mostly?

  1. Feeding Kai. Which can take 1-2 hours each sitting since he either takes forever to eat or needs something to play with while eating. It’s either that, or let him starve, which would result in worse sleep for both himself and myself. I find feeding him in different settings helps. A little.
  2. Taking him to Grandma’s where he has the opportunity to play and somewhat interact with his cousin who is slightly older than he is. But she’s scared of him at the moment.
  3. Watching him WALK around the house now exploring whatever toys he wants. Sometimes it is the ball pit. Sometimes it is his toy car. For someone about to turn 14 months, literally everything is a toy. I’ll try to foster that imagination somehow.
  4. Having him interact with strangers as often as possible, so he can be the opposite of a social recluse in the future like his father. Not sure he was very good this week compared to previous weeks, but maybe he’s becoming more introverted. Only time will tell where he falls on the introverted-extroverted scale.
  5. In the end, he’s a rather curious baby and loves exploring new places. At Katherine’s work place he didn’t mind walking all over the office playing with random objects.  He also enjoyed walking with his new shoes at Steelcraft like a drunk sailor and capturing the stares of adoring strangers. I’m hopeful I can bring him with me everywhere in the future, continuing to cherish the quality time of the final 5 weeks of summer. Especially now that he can walk.
