Father’s Day 2.0

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. Obviously not the neglectful ones, the deadbeats, or the ones that never changed a diaper in their lives, but the ones that embody the spirit of fatherhood in both the domestic and work spheres.

Technically last year was my first Father’s day, but it was mostly unearned. A year of raising a baby has made me more appreciative of all the great fathers I know in my life, including my brother and my brother-in-laws. That is of course never going to match the workload moms bring into the equation.

As summer school comes to an end in roughly one week, I hope to cherish the remaining weeks with Kai – even though it is technically more work than actual work itself, due to the unpredictable nature of it all. Quality time + acts of service = the best love languages. Even though sometimes he will crave the physical touch of being held.
