Election Season

Election season is in full swing here at Dale Junior high. After weeks of nudging various students, I have finally compiled a combination of all their campaign videos and slides to be presented next week to all of the student population.

Some were more creative than others. Though I would highly encourage students to obviously vote for the better candidates, it usually just comes down to a popularity contest anyway.

Still, I’m grateful to be part of the civic engagement team, and at least give students the opportunity to choose their leaders here on campus. The nomination process this year was much more open, allowing students to even self-nominate themselves if they so chose. I was a little worried some troublemakers would opt to do so, but then I realized that their laziness would triumph any realistic chance of them trying to instill structural changes within the school and filling out of a nomination form.

Still, I’m hopeful that the 2nd year of the Dale Senate will be even more successful than the first. I also encourage adults to vote in November, despite this year only being local elections (not congressional or obviously presidential).
