4 years ago, I taught these students at Rise Kohyang Middle School. Though some were quite a handful, they were a very memorable class for the most part.

4 years later, I sit in the very same church building to see them graduate from high school ready to embark on a new journey.

4 years into the future I know they’ll do great and chart a path destined for success as they finish out their undergraduate adventures in college.

4 years ago I was also a lot less mature and a brash young teacher, making many mistakes in the process.

4 years later I can only hope I continue to grow and learn as an educator.

4 years into the future I hope to be fully tenured and return back to teaching history in the Anaheim Union High school district.

4 years ago I was single and searching for love living in Los Angeles.

4 years later I am happily married and ready to go on a second honeymoon.

4 years into the future I know our love will remain strong as we have at least one child in those years.

This only proves to show time travels slowly but quickly at the same time. It felt just like yesterday when I taught these kids, who are now full fledged adults ready to take on the world.

I know as I continue to grow as a person and my journey in life continues these new graduates will as well. Congratulations to the class of 2023! I know they will do great wherever they go next. It’s not always about the destination, but the journey along the way.
