Goodbye Letters

Every year, I end with giving my entire set of students goodbye letters.

In my first year of teaching, these were simple paragraphs, but over the years they have evolved into full-fleshed letters. For many of the students, I am able to write extended messages pertaining to their love interests, relationships, and general thoughts on their personality. For those students that have no personality, it is more of a struggle, but I do try to come up with something unique to hopefully inspire them.

I now have a pretty structured format I’ve been using for all 4 quarters of the school year.
Quarter 1: Introduction letter (a response to a letter they write in the first week of school)
Quarter 2: Letter from Santa Clause
Quarter 3: Individualized Pokemon Card based on their personality
Quarter 4: End of the year letters with details about their general behavior/personality throughout the year

The students, even if they are annoying as hell, are grateful to receive the notes.

This will obviously have to change next year when I change roles in teaching, but I’ll keep you updated.
