As another school year nearly comes to a close, I remember a photo taken in my senior year of high school, with my Calculus AP class.
This was the sole class in high school where I cried. The teacher arranged us in groups to go over the problems that were on the AP tes the previous month. She would call a random person from each group to do a random problem, and depending on how they performed on the problem the entire group would get a certain grade. Well, I was called up and forgot how to do the problem halfway through. Which led to a breakdown where I cried in front of the entire class. It was indeed one of the saddest moments of my life.
On a more positive note though, we took an end of the year class picture together – a tradition which I have done now with my students over the last 8 years. So thank you Ms. Pham Vu for teaching me this random thing which I will do forever the rest of my teaching career.
