At my middle school “graduation” I wore a regular t-shirt. I didn’t think it was important enough to dress nice.
It’s weird that my life has turned full circle a little bit. I absolutely hated my days in middle school for the most part. And now I teach middle school. I can absolutely see some of the same sentiments in my students because there are so many things annoying about that particular age. Other annoying kids, the need to not stand out, the awkwardness of puberty, etc. Unless you’re super alpha, or attractive, you won’t get many places in middle school. I was also super shy and never spoke to any girls in middle school.
And yet, we press on, because we all had to struggle through such awkward times.
I do not talk to the two boys that surround me in this picture anymore. And yet I remember this day so fondly, the day I escaped the perils of middle school.
