You Will Be Found

It was my first time ever watching a musical at the San Diego Civic Theatre, and though it wasn’t my first musical ever, it was a magical experience seeing Dear Evan Hansen.

Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a socially awkward teenager who struggles with fitting in, until tragic circumstances allow him to opportunity to grow. Without giving much else away, the plot lends itself for opportunities for me to easily relate to the character. Being that I was myself very socially inept in high school, and even socially awkward in various situations to this day, I could empathetic and heavily relate to the character of Evan Hansen. For anyone that’s ever felt alone or marginalized, this is a great musical to make you appreciate the finer things you have in your life. I’m sad that stories like this aren’t easily accessible, because musicals aren’t affordable to everyday teenagers, but hopefully Hollywood will adapt this into a movie in a few years.

It is now my favorite musical tied with the Book of Mormon. Way better than the overrated Wicked, that’s for sure.
